If you have concerns about blackheads and large pores you’re not alone. Enlarged pores happen to almost everyone which makes us want to find a solution quickly. When people try to take care of their blackheads the first thing they reach for is pore strips. Pore strips are very harmful to your skin and can actually make the problem worse! It also doesn’t remove the blackheads from the roots, it just rips off the surface. There are safer and more effective ways to get rid of blackheads without harming your skin. Here are the best ways to get the job done:
#1. Melt them away with cleansing oil
One good way to remove your blackheads from deep down is by using a cleansing oil. This will melt the hardened sebum in your pores which will make the blackheads easier to come out. Just apply a small amount of cleansing oil to the areas of your face that have enlarged pores such as your forehead, nose, or chin. Gently rub the oil in circular motions for 1-2 minutes to soften your pores. This will melt down the blackheads so they can come out. If your pores are very clogged you can use a cleansing sponge or a cotton pad soaked in water to gently wipe off the oil and exfoliate the troubled areas. Use a foaming cleanser to wash your face, then finish up with the rest of your skin care routine and you’re good to go.
#2. Use a sugar scrub for blackheads
Regularly exfoliating your face is a great way to remove and prevent blackheads. Sugar scrubs are particularly effective for blackheads as it removes sebum while brightening your skin. Keep in mind that you shouldn’t use any scrub products on a dry face. Start with a damp face or use a bit of cleansing oil first, then apply an adequate amount of sugar scrub on the areas where you have blackheads. You can also use the scrub on your entire face if you want to brighten your skin and make it smooth for easier makeup application. Use gentle rolling motions and let the scrub do the work for you. There is no need to scrub very hard or for too long. 1-2 minutes of scrubbing is enough. Once you are done, rinse your face with room temperature water and follow up with soothing skin care products.
#3. Cleanse with a charcoal soap
For daily care, charcoal soap is a great choice to keep those pesky blackheads at bay. Charcoal powder removes dead skin cells and absorbs sebum which is exactly what you want for pore care. Using charcoal soap regularly helps to control oil and prevent blackheads from forming. The Klairs Gentle Black Sugar Charcoal Soap is my favorite because it’s made with all natural ingredients and doesn’t contain any harmful additives. It also doesn’t strip your skin since it has moisturizing properties. This soap is gentle enough to be used daily, or it can be used 1-2 times a week for special blackhead care.
